vtVAX for Windows Product Highlights

vtVAX for Windows software is a cost-effective replacement for almost any VAX server or workstation. This affordable VAX virtualization software runs on modern x86-64 architecture, reducing maintenance and operating cost and yielding ‘green’ benefits for both the data center and the bottom-line. vtVAX for Windows emulates the VAX CPU(s), storage, and communications device adapters.  The software translates VAX instructions and I/O requests into x86-64 architecture equivalents, passes them on to the host hardware for processing, then returns the results to the VMS operating system.

The OpenVMS operating system, user interface, and applications run unmodified on vtVAX for Windows.   No porting, recompiling, or re-linking of source code is required.  The compatibility of vtVAX for Windows with VAX hardware has been tested using the DEC VAX diagnostics and architecture verification tools.  Since the virtual system runs just like the original, costly re-certification is unnecessary.

vtVAX for Windows is user-friendly.  Using vtVAX Manager, an XML-based graphical user interface management tool, you specify the characteristics and configuration of your existing VAX computer.  Next an image of your existing data is copied to your new host hardware.   Simply connect to and boot your virtual VAX the same way you did on the original system.
After your virtual VAX is up and running, vtVAX Manager helps you to start, stop, and maintain your installed base of virtual VAX systems from a single management interface.
